Free COVID Safety Training for Students Returning to School
The new school year is approaching, and students are anxious to connect with their friends and see what the year brings. However, unlike previous years, they may also feel an added layer of nervousness and uncertainty. Sending children into a public area for prolonged periods of the day may seem like a high risk with COVID-19 persisting, but there is COVID safety training they can use to reduce their risk of contracting the virus.
It’s everyone’s responsibility to keep Canada’s schools safe. This includes safety training, supplying personal protective equipment (PPE) and deploying good hygiene practices.
Canada’s educators are learning how to keep themselves and their students safe during these uncertain times. That said, many students (especially the younger ones) are not entirely sure what is going on, why they should wear a mask, and why they should be washing their hands so frequently. That’s why we highly suggest that students and their parents take free online training. Develop a conversation around safety and ensure your children have what they need to be responsible and remain healthy!
Understand COVID Best Practices with Free Online Training (COVID Safety Training)
It can be a challenge for children and teens to commit to hygiene best-practices like hand washing and mask wearing. While it can be difficult to communicate the importance of these (and how to do them correctly) in parent-to-children relationships, training tools can help reduce barriers and open the doors to conversation.
We recommend that parents participate in Emergency University’s free online training with their children. The online training mainly focuses on three topics to prepare students for back to school:
- How the virus spreads
- The importance of wearing a mask
- Good hand washing practices
How COVID-19 Spreads
Coronavirus mainly spreads though virus-filled droplets travelling through the air. When you sneeze or cough, you unknowingly project infected particles to the people and objects around you. Virus-laden droplets can land on both people and surfaces, which is why you should always sanitize public surfaces and frequently touched objects, wear gloves when interacting with them, and wear a mask.
The Importance of Wearing a Mask
While wearing a mask doesn’t protect you from all virus particles, it will protect yourself and others from most of them. This makes masks an essential preventative device in reducing the spread of COVID-19! The amount of virus you’re exposed to is directly related to how likely you are to become ill, so reducing that amount is incredibly important in keeping healthy.
Good Handwashing Practices
Believe it or not, soap and warm water is the most effective disinfectant against coronavirus! Washing your hands with warm, soapy water for 20 seconds removes most of the virus from hands. Other ways to prevent the spread through touching are hand sanitizer and disposable gloves.
